Is it possible to bring human ashes (in a little plastic bag) on a plane?

My best friend passed away a while ago, when we were both 15. It's been about 6 years now and I am taking a trip to europe in a week. His parents have asked me to take a little bit of his remains with me and sprinkle them in different places (he always wanted to travel the world, and since he was never able to do so, this is our way of getting him there). Anyways, I now have his some of remains in a little plastic baggy and i want to know if I will make it through security without being hassled. Thanks!
