So I'm trying to be open-minded about this God thing...?

Well I've been told that you REALLY HAVE TO SEEK GOD, and be sincere about it, and He will reveal himself to you. Well isn't that a bit like forcing yourself to believe in something even if it's not true? How can I know that it's not my mind playing games with me?
