How to kill odor in TOMS?

I just got my black canvas TOMS about a month ago. I've worn them quite a bit and now they're starting to stink. How can I get rid of the odor? I just sprinkled baking soda in them a few minutes ago. Will that kill the odor or will I need to do something else? Also, I was planning to wear my TOMS tomorrow, so will the baking soda have time to work by morning?
